5 Ideas to Make Fall Family Photos Unique

Fall is such a fun time of year to take photos with the family! The air is a bit cooler, the outdoors are full of beautiful colors and light, and you can get extra creative with wardrobe. There are so many ways to make your fall family photoshoot special and end up with pictures that stand out from the rest. Here are my 5 ideas to help make your fall family photos unique this year:

1. Bring a Fall Friendly Prop

Props are always a fun addition to family pictures and can help get the kids get more involved in your photoshoot. You can try bringing traditional fall favorites like a pumpkin, blanket, or coffee cups or personalize your shots with something meaningful to your family.

2. Choose an Outfit Color Scheme

A cohesive color scheme can help bring a cohesive look to your photos without being too “matchy, matchy.” Brown, red, rustic orange, and dark green are all great options for a fall family photoshoot color scheme. Every family member can still wear other colors as well, but planning your wardrobe around one common color can help you avoid clashing.

3. Try an Action Shot

Action shots are such a fun way to get the whole family moving, laughing, and having fun during your fall photoshoot! You can try jumping, running, or even dancing to get the perfect, unique action shot that gets everyone involved.

4. Experiment With Depth

Layering your photos with poses and positioning can add depth and uniqueness to your fall photos. Let your photographer position the kids standing a little ways in front of you or position you in the background sitting on a blanket or leaning against a tree.

5. Incorporate Nature

Nature is so pretty and unique in the fall. Finding ways to incorporate leaves, trees, fields, or flowers into your shots can make for beautiful fall family photos. You can try something as simple as sitting on a blanket with a few colorful leaves sprinkled about or playfully peaking around a tree!
