Maternity Photoshoot Tips for Spring

You will likely cherish your maternity photos for a lifetime. One of the perks of a spring pregnancy is the chance to take some stunning maternity photos outside. Here are my top 5 tips to help make those spring maternity photos shine!

1. Take Advantage of Vibrant Spring Colors

Spring is the perfect time to embrace those bright pinks, blues, greens, yellows, and pastels (all colors that compliment that baby bump so beautifully). Choosing a maternity outfit that you love and are comfortable in is important, but think about how your clothing will fit with the location and lighting as well.

2. Try a Sunset Photoshoot

There’s nothing like a woman’s pregnancy glow highlighted by the glow of the sunset. With warmth back in the air, spring is the perfect time to get outside and snap those picture-perfect sunset shots. The pinks, oranges, purples, and blues that appear in the sky as the sun goes down are bound to make your maternity pictures pop.

3. Pose Confidently

Remember, your baby bump is the star of the show! You want your photoshoot poses to highlight the pregnancy as much as possible. It’s important to pose confidently and stick to positions that emphasize that belly. You don’t have to move around a lot to do this. If it’s more comfortable, you can even do your poses sitting or lying down.

4. Bring Props

If you have something sentimental or meaningful that you would like to include in the pictures, bring it to your photoshoot! Props often make for a lovely addition to maternity photos. Your photographer will know how to fit the prop into your pictures seamlessly.

5. Book Your Maternity Shoot Early

Maternity photos are best taken around 30 weeks’ gestation, however, moms expecting twins or who are having a complicated pregnancy should plan for a little earlier. It’s best to schedule your session early so that you can reserve a date that will suit the timeline of the pregnancy best. Contact me now to book a maternity photoshoot session!
